Student Finds a Rare Lamborghini and a Ferrari 308 Gathering Dust in Her Grandma’s Garage

What would you do if you found these vehicles in the garage?

It must have been a surreal experience for Reddit user eriegin when she walked into her grandmother’s garage and found not one, but TWO 80s supercars inside. Both were in a pitiful state of disrepair, but still…it’s not everyday that you get to discover a Lamborghini Countach and a rare Ferrari 308 in your family’s possession.

Eriegin, a student from United States, posted the picture of the white Lamborghini on Reddit. It was captioned “Despite the rust and dust, grandma’s 1981 Lamborghini Countach is the coolest.”

As expected, Reddit users flooded her with comments demanding how and why her grandmother has two iconic 80s sportscars in her garage.

They also want to know why the vehicles were left untouched and unmoved for two decades.

She later posted an explanation on her thread, saying:

“My late Grandpa bought it for his exotic car rental business in 1989, but after insurance costs became too high for him to operate the company, he kept the car (and many others including the Ferrari 308 in front of the Lambo) outside and in leaky garages for 20+ years instead of selling them.”

“Don’t ask me why, I have no clue.”

The white Lamborghini happens to be a rare one. It is a special edition LP500 and there were only 321 cars assembled by the Italian carmaker.

It comes with a 4.8-litre V12 motor which produces 385 horsepower. It can go from 0 to 62mph in 5.6 seconds, with its top speed at 186mph when brand new.

The white Lamborghini was similar to the one used by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2013 movie The Wolf of Wall Street.

The car is worth around £350,000 if in pristine condition.

The other car, a Ferrari 308, has a five-speed manual transmission and a 2.9-litre V8 engine producing 214hp (237hp in Europe specs). Eriegin mentioned that the wheels of the Ferrari got stolen while it was parked for years in a barn, so replacing the wheels can take a bit of work.

The Ferrari is a GTS Targa model just like the one used by Tom Selleck in the popular 80s TV show Magnum P.I.

As if that’s not enough, the garage also holds a MG T-Type convertible, a late 1930s model. Eriegen also mentioned that her grandparents once had a 1955 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing.

She admitted that as a college student with very limited means, she couldn’t possbily restore the sportscars in roadworthy conditions, but she was hoping that someone in their family might inherit them and do the restorations.

She also revealed that her grandmother may be willing to accept offers for the vehicles.
