Some friendships are just too precious for this world. A homeless man was recently admitted to the hospital for a pre-existing illness. Interestingly, he wasn’t alone. Soon, the hospital staff discovered that four stray dogs had followed the man to the medical center and were anxious about their friend.

The incident happened at Hospital Regional Alto Vale in Santa Catarina, Brazil. A homeless man named César was brought to the hospital for immediate treatment. Although he lived in the streets, it became clear that César had several friends who were concerned about his wellbeing. The staff found the four stray dogs waiting by the hospital door and looking very worried about their companion.

These stray dogs are concerned for their friend who has been taken away.

Cris Mamprim works at the hospital and was one of the staff who noticed the furry visitors. She decided to snap a photo of the concerned pups waiting for César and share their story on Facebook.

“A simple person, without luxury, who depends on help to overcome the hunger, the cold, the pain, the evils of the world, has by his side the best companions, and the exchange is mutual,” Mamprim wrote.

Mamprim also commented on how the stray dogs were “all well taken care of and chubby. Seeing them like that, waiting at the door, only shows how much they are cared for and loved.”

César later admitted that he always feeds the dogs, up to the point that he himself goes hungry. However, he is much happier seeing the dogs eating well.

The staff allowed the stray dogs to wait inside the hospital as César was attended to. They later offered the group some food and Mamprim noted that the man saved some of it to give to his companions later.

César and his furry friends have since left the hospital but Mamprin believes that the homeless man is in good company.

“He has the best companions with him,” Mamprim wrote in her post. “I do not know what his life is like, or why he’s on the street, but I admire the respect and love he has for his little animals.”
