It’s only natural that we have fears and resentment when it comes to strangers. So when a mom heard her daughter talking about a “cute little old man” outside her school, she was curious about his purpose of being there.

Gina Michelle dropped Audrey off to school one day and she stayed for a little while to know what her daughter was talking about. She decided to see it for herself and what she saw touched her heart deeply.

Gina discovered who the “cute little old man” was and he was outside her daughter’s school.

The mother from California then took to social media to share the story. She shared that when she dropped off her daughter from a different spot than usual, her daughter said that she should’ve dropped her at the spot like before so that she could talk to the “cute, little old man.”

The old man wants nothing but the best for the young generation.

His mission? To spread encouragement and kindness.

He stands on the corner, giving kids fist bumps and kind words each day.

Gina narrates:

“‘Who’s the cute little old man?’ I asked [my daughter].

‘He stands at the steps where you drop me off and encourages all the students as they walk in. He talks about kindness and gives us advice and fist bumps! It’s the best part of the day!'”

The “cute little old man” named Wally was in WW2 and the Korean War as a fighter pilot, later became a commercial pilot. Now he spends his time standing outside a local school spreading kindness and encouragement.

“Let’s go to school and have a wonderful day!” Wally can be heard telling a couple of kids.

“This is exactly the kind of love and support our middle schoolers need. This man stands out side the school every day and gives the gift of encouragement to every student that comes near him. This is what I saw this morning. I was like lucky enough to catch one of his infamous fist bumps! I strive to be like this guy as much as possible, we all should. My day has officially been made!”
