Most cafe owners know it takes more than just great coffee to create a successful business. People nowadays are more drawn to places that are unique and Instagram-worthy.
Knowing what consumers are looking for, a cafe in South Korea offers visitors a one-of-a-kind experience that they couldn’t resist. For those who have ever watched a cartoon and wondered what it would be like to step into that world, Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20 in Seoul now allows you to transport into a two-dimensional world.
Located in the popular Yeonnam-dong district, Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20 is designed to look like a walkable black-and-white sketch lifted right out of a comic book. Every detail from the floors to the cutlery contributes to a 2D-looking dreamscape that makes patrons feel as if they’re suddenly living in a cartoon.
Themed after Korean TV show “W – Two Worlds,” Café Yeonnam-dong 239-20 creates a surreal space where art meets reality in the most extraordinary.
Visitors can spot the cafe by its white gate and a tiny cutout home that sits in front of it, giving a slight taste of what they’ll find once inside.
Once they step through the door, they’re greeted with black and white comic strip furniture, walls, and floors. Even the mugs, dishes, and cutlery look like flat line drawings.
The “drawing cafe,” as it’s known to some, also has a gorgeous selection of colorful beverages and food to choose from.
Even its cups are created with the same black and white design to look like someone drew them right on the spot, with the cafe’s design extended into its bathroom as well.
If you want to experience this cafe for yourself, you can find it in the famous Yeonnam-dong district in Seoul. If you can’t make it to South Korea, you can still feed your wanderlust by checking out the cafe’s social media accounts.
